• What is Wayfinding?
• Wayfinding refers to how people navigate through an environment. It is a process – a series of decisions made based on the visual and sensory information, helping individuals "find their way." Signage serves as a tool to assist in the wayfinding process,
• Nature photography behind a care station serves as wall protection which harmonizes with the bulkhead colour above.
• Guiding the way
• Preparing people to confidently and safely navigate a new facility that is three times larger than the current hospital has remained a key priority.
• A collaborative team of clinicians and staff, architects and patient partners, have worked together to develop a wayfinding system that uses:
• Colours, art and visual themes
• Nature-based imagery
• Consistent signage and spatial cues; and
• Braille, texture and patterns.
• These elements help patients, families and staff move through the building, supporting clarity and accessibility.

• In May, BC's Minister of Infrastructure, Bowinn Ma, joined Cowichan Valley MLA Debra Toporowski, project leaders and media representatives for a special behind-the-scenes site tour highlighting progress and key milestones. (Read the media release.)
• More than 80% of the workforce is local to the region and more than 200 Indigenous tradespeople and apprentices, including members of Cowichan Tribes, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, and Malahat Nations, have contributed to building the hospital.
