In the Community: Partnerships in Action Over the past year, the Auxiliary has contributed more than $123,000 to support programs and services across CDH, an impact that continues to be felt throughout the hospital. Members were especially pleased to learn about their future spaces at QVH, which will include an expanded gift shop, increased storage capacity, and a dedicated staff lounge next door. These features reflect the important role the Auxiliary will continue to play in supporting patient care. We are deeply grateful for the Auxiliary's ongoing generosity, partnership, and commitment to quality care – both today and as we prepare to move together into the new hospital next year. L-R CDH Foundation Board Director Denise, CDH Auxiliary President Claudette and CDH Foundation CEO Naomi Cowichan District Hospital Auxiliary Impact In March, the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation marked an exciting milestone at their most successful spring gala to date, the completion of the Jimmy Pattison $5 million match campaign. Supported by both new and long-standing donors the event reflected a strong and growing commitment from the community to the future of care in Cowichan. The Foundation's current fundraising campaign aims to contribute $20 million for state-of-the-art medical equipment. Funds raised at the gala, the $10 million from the Double Your Impact campaign, plus contributions from community groups, service clubs and individual donors, has brought the total to over $17.3 million so far! Building on this momentum, the Foundation team is preparing for a number of upcoming initiatives, including their annual golf tournament, fall campaign, and a new classic car raffle, launching July 5. Their ongoing efforts play a vital role in supporting both current hospital needs and the transition to the future facility next year. In June, hospital representatives were also pleased to join the Foundation at their June Open House, where they had the opportunity to thank community members for their continued generosity, share updates on the new hospital and highlight the impacts of the fundraising campaign. Events like these provide meaningful opportunities to stay connected, celebrate shared progress and engage the community in the journey toward the future hospital. Guests also had an opportunity to meet April Lacheur, a former Island Health nurse turned artist, who is creating the mural for the Foundation's donor recognition wall (see page 7). As always, Island Health and project partners were delighted to connect with attendees, answer questions and share their excitement about the future of care. We are grateful for the Foundation's leadership, dedication and partnership in supporting high quality care in the Cowichan Valley and for helping bring the new hospital to life. In April, the Cowichan District Hospital (CDH) Auxiliary gathered for its Annual General Meeting – an opportunity for project representatives, site leaders and community partners to come together and share updates on the progress of the new hospital and ongoing work at the current site. Attendees learned about key developments in construction, recruitment, Art@CDH and move planning, helping to connect the Auxiliary more closely to the evolving future of care in the Cowichan Valley. The meeting was also a meaningful moment to recognize the vital role the Auxiliary plays in enriching patient and staff experiences every day.
