Work on the new Cowichan District
Hospital continues to progress at a steady
pace at the construction site on Bell
McKinnon Road.
These photos show the dramatic changes
over a six-month stretch, from August
2023 to February 2024, keeping us on
track and on time to complete construction
in 2026 and open for patient care in 2027.
In the future Diagnostic & Treatment
Centre (D&T), the crews continue with
concrete pours for the west half of levels 1
through 3 of the 4-storey structure, and
are working on exterior wall framing and
boarding.
In the adjacent Inpatient Unit (IPU), work
continues on concrete slabs for levels 2
and 3 of the 7-storey tower as teams begin
waterproofing the exterior walls and
backfilling foundations.
Civil work also continues with installation
of water and sanitary lines on Bell
McKinnon Road and widening of Bell
McKinnon north of the site.
Over the coming months, construction will
focus on the final pours for all buildings
and working towards closing up the
exterior envelope of the three structures
which will comprise the new CDH campus.
